KATSINA SETS THE PACE IN CLEAN ENERGY AND HEALTHCARE DEVELOPMENT

Katsina State is becoming one of Northern Nigeria’s leading examples of progress through major investments in clean energy and healthcare development.

In the energy sector, the state has installed over 100 kilometres of solar-powered streetlights and developed a 10MW solar power project. It has also expanded renewable energy generation to 30MW, including battery storage systems aimed at improving electricity supply.

The state also revived the Lambar Rimi Wind Farm, Nigeria’s only utility-scale wind power project with a 10MW capacity. The project is now being combined with solar technology to increase its total output to 20MW.

In healthcare, Katsina now hosts one of the most advanced dialysis centres in Nigeria. The state is also building Northern Nigeria’s first pharmaceutical production facility alongside a modern diagnostic centre expected to be completed by 2027.

As part of efforts to strengthen the healthcare sector, the government is sponsoring more than 40 medical students in Egypt, while over 500,000 residents have been enrolled in the state health insurance scheme.

These achievements reflect Katsina State’s growing commitment to sustainable development, improved healthcare services and reliable clean energy for its people.
